Shawshank Redemption. Definitely the best and most inspiring movie that I've ever watched. The story was about a guy who was wrongly jailed for a crime that he didn't commit and how he was serving his life terms in prison. Besides that, the story is about two imprisoned men - Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman) - bond over a number of years. Best movie and should deserve an Oscar Award, if you ask me. Too bad it was competing and over-shadowed by Forrest Gump that was being released in the same year. Of course, I didn't say that Forrest Gump was a bad movie. :)
When I was watching this movie, somehow, somewhat, I can feel the freedom of the main character, Andy Dufresne, when he achieved what he had been dreaming for. A brilliant escape throughout everything that he has been done over the years. A true example of "Patient is a virtue". Best quote that I loved in the movie - "Red, hope is a good thing, perhaps the best of thing. and good thing never dies".
I love Morgan Freeman's narration. It was brilliant. Convincing. Full with expression. Damn good narrator I would say. I was very impressed with his talking style. Meanwhile, for Tim Robbins, though he didnt "speak" well in the movie, like a stone, I somehow feel that's the way it supposed to be. A wrongly accused banker, thrown into prison to serve his life imprisonment sentence, he accepted his fate as he knows there's no point crying or breakdown or whatsoever.
If I'm going to give 1 word to describe this, I'll say Original. It was so pure, nice storyline, not over-exaggerating, flow in a smooth way. A must-watch movie, enough said. The music score is good too. The ending theme is great, perhaps the most inspiring song ever. Wiki-ed about the song and found that most inspirational songs were created based on this song. :)
