A will drafted by Michael Jackson in 2002 which divides the singer's estate among his mother, three children and one or more charities could play a central role in determining how his tangled financial relationships will be unwound.
Several people close to the late Jackson said that a lawyer for the pop singer could submit the will, believed to be his last, to Los Angeles Superior Court as soon as Thursday. That filing would cap a tense period in which relatives and advisers of the late singer debated what document, if any, was valid.
One or two other earlier wills have emerged since Jackson's death last Thursday, according to people familiar with the situation. The Associated Press reported that Jackson's parents, Joseph and Katherine Jackson, said in a Monday court filing that they believed the singer had died without a valid will. Joseph Jackson isn't believed to be included in the most recent will.
In an email message, a lawyer for Jackson's parents said neither he nor his clients had seen the 2002 will. "No will has been presented to family or us," wrote the lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, who also once represented Michael Jackson. "We will review any will when we see it."
McMillan said that he had spent much of Monday trying to ensure that Jackson's mother would receive custody of the singer's three children. A Los Angeles court on Monday granted her temporary custody pending a hearing in July. McMillan said the family is "pleased" with that decision. It wasn't clear what custody arrangements are called for by the 2002 will.
This will names as executors lawyer John Branca and a veteran music executive named John McClain who was also a friend of Jackson. Branca, who served as Jackson's primary attorney between 1980 and 2006, wrote the will. Jackson had rehired Branca the week before his death last Thursday. Branca didn't respond to requests for comment Monday; McClain couldn't be reached.

The child was the first person found alive from the jet, which was carrying more than 150 people en route to the island nation of Comoros from Yemen's capital, Sanaa.
The child was found in the waters and was taken to a hospital, said Captain Abdulkhalek al-Kadi, chairman of Yemenia Airways.
"One child is alive and we hope to find more," the chairman said.
He blamed the crash on bad weather. "It was high seas and windy weather," he said. Video Airline says more survivors will hopefully be found »
A reconnaissance plane had earlier spotted traces of the jet in the sea near the town of Mitsamiouli, Comoros Vice President Idi Nadhoim said Tuesday.
"There were no sign of survivors," he said before the child was found. "There are a few bodies floating and there is a lot of debris floating around."
The crash took place as the plane approached the Hahaya airport in Moroni. The plane tried but failed to land and then performed a U-turn before it crashed, Nadhoim said. Officials did not know why the plane could not land, he said. Recent plane crashes »
There were 142 passengers and 11 crew members aboard, Yemenia Air officials said.
Nadhoim offered another figure, saying there were 147 passengers.
Flight 626 left Sanaa at 9:30 p.m. (1830 GMT) for what was expected to be a four-and-a-half-hour flight. The airline has three regular flights a week to Moroni, off the east coast of Africa, about 2,900 km (1,800 miles) south of Yemen.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m., Nadhoim said.
Most of the passengers aboard the Airbus A310 were Comorans, an official at Sanaa's international airport told CNN.
An official at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris said there were also 66 French passengers aboard.
There was no indication of foul play behind the crash, the official in Yemen said.
Yemenia Air had used the jet since 1999, on about 17,300 flights, Airbus officials said. The company said it would assist in investigating the crash.
"We are extremely saddened and our thoughts are with the families, friends and loved ones affected by this accident," Airbus spokeswoman Maggie Bergsma told CNN.
"We are giving our maximum support and assistance to the authorities and the airline."
"This includes a team of Airbus experts that will go on site and our crisis center has been open since early this morning, where our specialists work in direct contact with the airline and the authorities," Bergsma added.
"The task now is to gather as much information as possible, including retrieval of the black boxes, to help us understand what happened. This will need time and patience."
The crash is the second involving an Airbus jet in a month. On June 1, an Air France Airbus A330 crashed off Brazil while en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, France. All 228 aboard are presumed dead. The cause remains under investigation.
Joe Jackson: Michael's Funeral Will be Large, Open to Public
I read somewhere that his dad is a fucktard. During his interview with the reporters, instead of grieving over his son's death, he promoted his products to everyone who was watching the interview. Stupid.

After plugging his record company, Michael Jackson's father Joe said in a press conference outside his home Monday that the family was planning a large public funeral for the deceased singer.
Joe Jackson says planning for a funeral will await a finding on what happened to his son, who died Thursday at age 50.
The family has sanctioned a second autopsy to be conducted on the King of Pop's body, which they said is already underway.
FULL COVERAGE: Get all of FOXNews.com's Michael Jackson stories, photos and video.
"We aren't ready for [releasing information on the funeral]. We don't have the time frame yet because we want to see when the private autopsy comes out."
But Joe Jackson says the funeral will not be closed to the public, as his son would likely have wanted a similar type of service.
Sharpton says the funeral plan has to be careful and deliberate and cannot be done spontaneously.
"[The Jacksons] gave the world a whole new glow and they must be careful to protect that glow," Sharpton said.
Joe Jackson defended his plug of his record label with Marshall Thompson at the BET Awards last night, when a reporter asked him about his son.
"Now I was asked that question and I answered just like it was asked because they wanted to know what else I was doing," Jackson said before going into discussions about his son.
"The family and I are very proud to see all of you come out here and help us with this whole situation because we know that we do have fans all over the world and we know that we're loved all over the world. But one thing that I wish could have happened — I wish that Michael could be here to see all of this. [We] had to wait until something happened like this before it could be realized. Michael was a superstar ... he was loved all over the world."
Jackson also said that he was pleased with the judge's decision to grant him and his wife Catherine temporary custody of Michael's three children
"[The children] are happy with the kids that they're around ... We have kids back there who are small just like they are. They [were] never around other kids," Jackson said.
Joe Jackson, notorious for his rumored abuse of his children including Michael, said the last time he saw his son was about a week before his death.

Woman loses RM19,000 to cyber lover
Stupid.

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 28-year-old woman who fell in love with a “cyber Casanova” lost RM19,000 after being duped into parting with her savings to help him start a business.
The woman had never met the stranger, purportedly from Ireland, and only corresponded with him via e-mail.
She had believed that the cyber love affair was genuine after he asked for her hand in marriage and pressed her to part with a sum amounting to thousands of ringgit, said to be for capital to set-up a textile business in Malaysia.
State commercial crime chief Supt Azmi Adam said the man had told the woman that he planned to have the business in the country to secure her future after they got married.
“The woman received an e-mail from the man on June 23 asking her to deposit the money into a bank account,” he said yesterday, adding the money was said to be for Customs clearance to enable textile materials to be brought into Malaysia.
Later, the man asked for more money, claiming that he had to pay a penalty of an equivalent of £7,000 (RM40,869) to the Irish authorities due to flaws in export documentation.
“The woman continued to deposit more money into the bank account, believing that the man really loved her and the business deal was genuine,” Supt Azmi said.
However, when the man keep pressing for more money, she realised it was a scam and lodged a police report at Jertih in Besut yesterday.
Supt Azmi said police traced the e-mail address and discovered that it originated from Nigeria. The woman had deposited the money into a local bank account.

SHOCKING pictures of a dog with its hind paw severed and its leg stripped of flesh and skin, exposing its bone were posted on citizen journalism website STOMP.
The stray dog, who has been named Kiwi, is believed to be a victim of animal abuse. She was found by STOMPer Wendy, who works at non-profit organisation Action for Singapore Dogs.
She said: 'A couple of stray dogs have been rescued recently with unimaginable injuries.
'You may feel uncomfortable looking at them, but this is what really happened to our fellow local dogs in Singapore.'
'Being strays are never easy, it is even worse if there are such losers out there, targeting at these helpless animals.
'No one could imagine the ordeal this helpless girl has to go through... we just hope that Kiwi can survive this hell.'
Ms Deidre Moss of the SPCA said that its vet had looked at the pictures and could not ascertain the cause of the dog's injury.
'It may have been a fracture due to a road accident or other possible causes including abuse,' Ms Moss said

Jackson dies, almost takes Internet with him
He'll be in our heart forever and ever...
RIP, Michael Jackson.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- How many people does it take to break the Internet? On June 25, we found out it's just one -- if that one is Michael Jackson.
Raul Orozco's portrayal of Michael Jackson as the Twitter fail whale
Jackson's death caused Twitter outages, as portrayed by Raul Orozco in this take on Twitter's fail whale
The biggest showbiz story of the year saw the troubled star take a good slice of the Internet with him, as the ripples caused by the news of his death swept around the globe.
"Between approximately 2:40 p.m. PDT and 3:15 p.m. PDT today, some Google News users experienced difficulty accessing search results for queries related to Michael Jackson," a Google spokesman told CNET, which also reported that Google News users complained that the service was inaccessible for a time. At its peak, Google Trends rated the Jackson story as "volcanic."
As sites fell, users raced to other sites: TechCrunch reported that TMZ, which broke the story, had several outages; users then switched to Perez Hilton's blog, which also struggled to deal with the requests it received.
CNN reported a fivefold rise in traffic and visitors in just over an hour, receiving 20 million page views in the hour the story broke.
Twitter crashed as users saw multiple "fail whales" -- the illustrations the site uses as error messages -- user FoieGrasie posting, "Irony: The protesters in Iran using Twitter as com are unable to get online because of all the posts of 'Michael Jackson RIP.' Well done." The site's status blog said that Twitter had had to temporarily disable its search results, saved searches and trend topics.
Wikipedia saw a flurry of activity, with close to 500 edits made to Jackson's entry in less than 24 hours. CNET reported that by 3:15 p.m. PT, Wikipedia seemed to be "temporarily overloaded."
The Los Angeles Times, the first news organization to confirm Jackson's death, suffered outages. The site also reported that AOL's instant messenger service had been hit, quoting an AOL statement that said, "AIM was down for approximately 40 minutes this afternoon." The statement said, "Today was a seminal moment in Internet history. We've never seen anything like it in terms of scope or depth."
That was backed up by AOL consumer adviser Regina Lewis, who said that, although the numbers weren't in yet, the day should prove a historic milestone for mobile Internet traffic.
"It could go down as the biggest mobile event in history," Lewis said. She felt that was in part because people were checking news headlines from work. "People wanted to keep tabs on this story, but if you're an accountant you're supposed to be working on your spreadsheet. So they were using their personal cell phones to do so," she explained. Video Watch Lewis explain the overload »
While the scale of response to Jackson's death might be unprecedented, the pattern of it was not, Lewis added.
"With the advent of social networking, we saw a sequence that we traditionally see around the death of celebrities," she said.
"One, people clamor for the latest news; two, they share it; three, they react; and then the next stage, which we're seeing alive and well on video sites ... are tributes. In the case of Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett, [people have] a lot to work with in terms of images and video," she said.
By Friday morning, news sites seemed to be coping with traffic, but Jackson fan site mjfanclub.net was still performing sluggishly. Mashable.com reported that tributes to, and remarks upon, Michael Jackson's death were responsible for 30 percent of tweets.
As with any breaking piece of news on the Web, the reports of Jackson's death sparked something of a feeding frenzy -- and with that came rumors that dragged in other celebrities completely unconnected to the "King of Pop's" death.
One Wikipedia prankster wrote that Jackson had been "savagely murdered" by his brother Tito, who had strangled him "with a microphone cord."
Soon rumors spread online that movie star Jeff Goldblum had fallen from the Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand while filming his latest movie. On several search engines, "Jeff Goldblum" soon became the only non-Jackson-related term to crop up in the top 10.
The rumors forced Goldblum's publicist to issue a statement to media outlets, saying: "Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue. He is fine and in Los Angeles."
At the same time, Harrison Ford was also rumored to have fallen from a yacht off the south of France.
Web site snopes.com, which shoots down rumors, gossip and urban legends -- and how they originated -- said the likely culprit was a Web site that allows users to input celebrity names -- and then inserts them into fake templated stories (a further variant has stars dying in a plane crash).
In a sense the feeding frenzy was understandable -- Jackson's death, coming only hours after that of 1970s icon Farah Fawcett, left many Web users shocked by the news and asking what would happen next. In this febrile climate, any rumor runs the risk of being seized on, believed and treated with more credulity than usual.
The need of the professional media to be first with the news -- many did for a short time report the Goldblum rumor as fact -- adds further veracity. And, of course, the whole process is speeded up by the Web.
There is also, of course, the old adage that celebrities die in threes, with the deaths of Gianni Versace, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa in 1997 frequently held up as an example of this.
advertisement
But while Diana and Teresa passed away within seven days of each other in August and September, Versace was killed in early July. Their deaths were most keenly mourned by the same broad sections of the public -- and hence were inextricably interlinked.
The Web can disseminate news -- but like any form of communication it can also help us create what we expect to see next.

Michael Jackson, pop music legend, dead at 50
I'm really sad... really really sad... he was like an icon to music industry back then when I was a little kid...
/keeseng
Source
(CNN) -- Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums -- including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad" -- and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Thursday, CNN has confirmed.
Michael Jackson, shown in 2008, was one of the biggest pop stars in history.
He was 50.
He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center.
Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said an autopsy would probably be done on the singer Friday, with results expected that afternoon. Watch crowds gather at Jackson's hospital »
"Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of color," the Rev. Al Sharpton said. "To say an 'icon' would only give these young people in Harlem a fraction of what he was. He was a historic figure that people will measure music and the industry by."
Jackson's blazing rise to stardom -- and later fall from grace -- is among the most startling of show business tales. The son of a steelworker, he rose to fame as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, a band he formed with his brothers in the late 1960s. By the late '70s, as a solo artist, he was topping the charts with cuts from "Off the Wall," including "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough." Watch Jackson perform at a 1988 concert »
In 1982, he released "Thriller," an album that eventually produced seven hit singles. An appearance the next year on a Motown Records 25th-anniversary special cemented his status as the biggest star in the country. Timeline: The life of Michael Jackson »
For the rest of the 1980s, they came no bigger. "Thriller's" follow-up, 1987's "Bad," sold almost as many copies. A new Jackson album -- a new Jackson appearance -- was a pop culture event. iReport: Share your memories of Michael Jackson
The pop music landscape was changing, however, opening up for rap, hip-hop and what came to be called "alternative" -- and Jackson was seen as out of step.
His next release, 1991's "Dangerous," debuted at No. 1 but "only" produced one top-ranking single -- "Black or White" -- and that song earned criticism for its inexplicably violent ending, in which Jackson was seen smashing car windows and clutching his crotch.
And then "Dangerous" was knocked out of its No. 1 spot on the album charts by Nirvana's "Nevermind," an occurrence noted for its symbolism by rock critics.
After that, more attention was paid to Jackson's private life than his music career, which faltered. A 1995 two-CD greatest hits, "HIStory," sold relatively poorly, given the huge expense of Jackson's recording contract: about 7 million copies, according to Recording Industry of America certifications.
A 2001 album of new material, "Invincible," did even worse.
In 2005, he went to trial on child-molestation charges. He was acquitted.
In July 2008, after three years away from the spotlight, Jackson announced a series of concerts at London's O2 Arena as his "curtain call." Some of the shows, initially scheduled to begin in July, were eventually postponed until 2010.
Rise to stardom
Michael Jackson was born August 29, 1958, to Joe Jackson, a Gary, Indiana, steelworker, and his wife, Katherine. By the time he was 6, he had joined his brothers in a musical group organized by his father, and by the time he was 10, the group -- the Jackson 5 -- had been signed to Motown. Watch Michael Jackson's life in video
He made his first television appearance at age 11.
Jackson, a natural performer, soon became the group's front man. Music critic Langdon Winner, reviewing the group's first album, "Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5," for Rolling Stone, praised Michael's versatile singing and added, "Who is this 'Diana Ross,' anyway?"
The group's first four singles -- "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There" -- went to No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart, the first time any group had pulled off that feat. There was even a Jackson 5 cartoon series on ABC.
In 1972, he hit No. 1 as a solo artist with the song "Ben."
The group's popularity waned as the '70s continued, and Michael eventually went solo full time. He played the Scarecrow in the 1978 movie version of "The Wiz," and released the album "Off the Wall" in 1979. Its success paved the way for "Thriller," which eventually became the best-selling album in history, with 50 million copies sold worldwide.
At that point, Michael Jackson became ubiquitous.
Seven of "Thriller's" nine cuts were released as singles; all made the Top Ten. The then-new cable channel MTV, criticized for its almost exclusively white playlist, finally started playing Jackson's videos. They aired incessantly, including a 14-minute minimovie of the title cut. ("Weird Al" Yankovic cemented his own stardom by lampooning Jackson's song "Beat It" with a letter-perfect parody video.)
On the Motown Records' 25th-anniversary special -- a May 1983 TV extravaganza with notable turns by the Temptations, the Four Tops and Smokey Robinson -- it was Michael Jackson who stopped the show.
Already he was the most popular musician in America, riding high with "Thriller." But something about his electrifying performance of "Billie Jean," complete with the patented backward dance moves, boosted his stardom to a new level.
People copied his Jheri-curled hair and single-gloved, zippered-jacket look. Showbiz veterans such as Fred Astaire praised his chops. He posed for photos with Ronald and Nancy Reagan at the White House. Paul McCartney teamed with him on three duets, two of which -- "The Girl Is Mine" and "Say Say Say" -- became top five hits. Jackson became a Pepsi spokesman, and when his hair caught fire while making a commercial, it was worldwide news.
It all happened very fast -- within a couple years of the Motown special. But even at the time of the "Motown 25" moonwalk, fame was old hat to Michael Jackson. He hadn't even turned 25 himself, but he'd been a star for more than half his life. He was given the nickname the "King of Pop" -- a spin on Elvis Presley's status as "the King of Rock 'n' Roll" -- and few questioned the moniker.
Relentless attention
But, as the showbiz saying has it, when you're on top of the world, there's nowhere to go but down. The relentless attention given Jackson started focusing as much on his eccentricities -- some real, some rumored -- as his music.
As the Web site Allmusic.com notes, he was rumored to sleep in a hyperbaric chamber and to have purchased the bones of John Merrick, the "Elephant Man." (Neither was true.) He did have a pet chimpanzee, Bubbles; underwent a series of increasingly drastic plastic surgeries; established an estate, Neverland, filled with zoo animals and amusement park rides; and managed to purchase the Beatles catalog from under Paul McCartney's nose, which displeased the ex-Beatle immensely.
In 1990s and 2000s, Jackson found himself pasted across the media for his short-lived marriages, the first to Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie; his 2002 claim that then Sony Records head Tommy Mottola was racist; his behavior and statements during a 2003 interview with British journalist Martin Bashir done for a documentary called "Living With Michael Jackson;" his changing physical appearance; and, above all, the accusations that he sexually molested young boys at Neverland.
The first such accusation, in 1993, resulted in a settlement to the 13-year-old accuser (rumored to be as high as $20 million), though no criminal charges were filed, Allmusic.com notes.
He also fell deeply in debt and was forced to sell some of his assets. Neverland was one of many holdings that went on the block. However, an auction of material from Neverland, scheduled for April, was called off and all items returned to Jackson.
Interest in Jackson never faded, however, even if some of it was prurient. In 2008, when he announced 10 comeback shows in London, beginning in July 2009, the story made worldwide news. The number of concerts was later increased to 50.
Seventy-five thousand tickets sold in four hours when they went on sale in March.
However, when the shows were postponed until 2010, rumors swept the Internet that Jackson was not physically prepared and possibly suffering from skin cancer.
At the time, the president and CEO of AEG Live, Randy Phillips, said, "He's as healthy as can be -- no health problems whatsover."

BERYL, Utah — Authorities say a 5-year-old girl was apparently accidentally shot and killed at her own birthday party in southern Utah.
Iron County Sheriff Mark Gower says the girl from Arizona was visiting her grandparents in Beryl this week to celebrate her sixth birthday.
On Monday night, the girl and another girl apparently found a rifle in a bedroom. The girl was shot in the torso and died at a hospital in Cedar City.
Gower says it's not clear yet whether the girl shot herself or the other girl was handling the gun.
The girl who died would have turned 6 on Tuesday.
The gun is registered to the victim's grandparents. The girl's name was not immediately released.

OMAHA, Neb. — It's extremely unlikely billionaire Warren Buffett would ever pay $2.1 million for lunch, because the Omaha investor prefers hamburgers and Cherry Cokes.
But Chinese investment fund manager Zhao Danyang paid that much to dine with Berkshire Hathaway's chairman and CEO Wednesday as part of a charity auction.
During a CNBC interview before lunch, Buffett joked that he hoped he wouldn't have to leave a 10 percent tip afterward.
Every year, Buffett auctions off one lunch and donates the proceeds to the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to San Francisco's homeless and poor.
A new lunch auction began Sunday and runs through Friday. The top bid on eBay Wednesday afternoon was $135,678, but that is almost certain to grow before the auction ends.

THE father of the 11-year-old girl from SJK (C) Jalan Davidson infected with Influenza A (H1N1) has pleaded with the public and parents to stop hurting them, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Some parents of students from the school had been demanding that they make a public apology for spreading the virus to other students, he said, adding that it was “irrational and ridiculous” for these people to do so.
“What have we done wrong? Why ask us to apologise? Do they think we want this to happen to our family? We are also victims in this incident,” he told the daily.
He said he did not understand why certain quarters could not support the family but rather blamed them for the incident.
“I am very worried now for my daughter, who is already under tremendous pressure and mental distress,” he said. “How is she going to face the pressure from her classmates and teachers when she goes back to school?”
He said it was difficult for the family to undergo the five-day quarantine period when people were constantly criticising his family.
“I feel helpless when people criticise my children and I can’t do anything as a father to defend them because I have been quarantined too,” he said.
Two of the man’s daughters were admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment for the illness and were discharged yesterday.
In its editorial, Nanyang Siang Pau said the Government must be stern in enforcing the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 to ensure that those under quarantine did not break the order.
“The virus is highly contagious and enforcing the Act, where one can be fined RM10,000 or jailed for two years or both, will serve as a deterrent,” it said.

JOHOR BARU: A Form Five student who refused to marry a man who befriended her less than a month ago was abducted, tortured and molested by the man. He also made video recordings of her in the nude.
The suspect, in his 20s, hit the girl with a wooden handle of a hammer.
The man threatened to circulate her naked video recordings on the Internet if she escaped from him.
However, the girl mustered up enough courage to escape and sought the assistance of police, who arrested the suspect along with three other men several days ago.
Police also recovered at least two parang, knives and a hammer from the suspects.
Sources said that the two had had a normal relationship but the girl suspected something amiss about the man’s character and decided to end their relationship several days ago.
However, the man took the break-up badly and together with his friends started harassing the girl at her house.
It is learnt that the suspects managed to convince the victim to come out and see him for one last time by threatening to harm her mother.
When the girl came out to see him, he bundled her into a car and took her to his house in Taman Daya before tying her up and torturing her.
Sources said the suspect drugged her before using his mobile phone to take a video of him molesting her in the house toilet.
The suspect then warned the girl that the video would be distributed if she ran away.
The next day, the girl managed to escape and with the help of a taxi driver, lodged a police report.
A police official confirmed the case.
MACC nabs lecturer who demanded sex and money to pass students

KUALA LUMPUR: A lecturer at a private international university who allegedly demanded sex and money from his students in return for better grades has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The man, a foreigner in his 40s who lectures in Cyberjaya, was arrested at about 5pm after a victim lodged a report with the MACC.
It is learnt the woman, 24, sat for a qualifying exam to enable her to continue her Masters’ degree.
After sitting for her papers, she was allegedly approached by her lecturer who told her she did not do well in her exam.
He then allegedly told her that he could help her provided she agreed to give in to his demands.
He was said to have initially asked her for sexual favours but when she refused, he demanded money as well if she wanted to pass the exam.
The lecturer was also said to have uttered words that caused the woman to be fearful.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdull confirmed the arrest but declined to elaborate.
Meanwhile, in Parliament, in his written reply to a question by N. Gobalakrishnan (PKR — Padang Serai), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the MACC has concluded two investigations into alleged money politics involving Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
Nazri said the investigation papers would be forwarded to the commission’s legal and prosecution department for a decision.
He added that the case involving a branch chief and Umno Rendang divisional delegates in garnering support for Mohd Ali as the Umno vice-president has been closed.
The case was decided as a ‘no further action’ case and closed on May 25.
In Putrajaya, the MACC arrested two men for making false statements over a housing loan application.
The suspects, aged 31 and 38, were said to have used a false architect’s certificate to apply for a home loan of more than RM152,000 from a bank.

A man tells a girl off for eating on the MRT but was challenged to a fight by the girl's boyfriend. The man's wife then presses the train's emergency button when the quarrel got ugly.
Singapore, June 20, 2009 - This man in black told off a girl who was eating on the train, and got challenged into a fight with the girl's friend instead. STOMPer violettulip witnessed this ugly scene on the train, and says it got so serious that the man's wife pushed the emergency button.
She elaborates:
"I was on the train to work today (Jun 20) around 11.45am.
"Minutes after I boarded the train, I noticed this group of teenagers near the door as they were sitting down on the floor.
"The only girl in the group was munching her sandwich and the guy in white was sitting next to her.
"Suddenly, this man in black confronted the girl, who was not supposed to eat on the train.
"He pointed at the 'no eating' sign while telling them that they should not consume food in the train, they should be aware of the rules.
"This guy in white was provoked and stood up to argue with the man, he was obviously unhappy that the man told them off, and even adopted a 'fighting pose' to challenge the man to fight with him.
"His friend came forward to stop him, but the guy was still arrogantly challenging the man and came out with vulgarities.
"The man's wife did not want the situation to get out of hand, therefore she pressed the emergency button.
"When the train reached Yew Tee station, the group of teenagers and the man with his wife was told to alight the train but they were still arguing away on the platform.
"I am glad that someone like the man spoke up to those who break the rules on public transport!
"I have seen countless eating and drinking cases on the train, from cup noodles to french fries ,bubble tea and even fried carrot cake!
"I think as a commuter ourself, we seriously need to consider other commuters' travelling comfort on the public transport."
'You Light Up My Life' Songwriter Indicted on Rape Charges
Source
NEW YORK — The Oscar-winning composer and director behind "You Light Up My Life" raped 11 women he lured to his apartment with the promise of a starring role in a movie, prosecutors said at his arraignment Tuesday.
The women read an online ad placed by the director, Joseph Brooks, applied for the audition "and thought this was their chance to become a big star," prosecutor Lisa Friel said.
Instead, once the women were in Brooks' Manhattan apartment, he plied them with wine and forcibly raped them or used threats and coercive behavior to make them have sex with him, prosecutors said.
The scrawny Brooks, 71, denied the accusations. He pleaded not guilty in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, where he was arraigned on a 91-count indictment charging him with rape, criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, assault and other charges. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of first-degree rape.
Justice Charles Solomon set bail at $500,000 bond or $250,000 cash bail and gave Brooks until Thursday to post it. The judge told Brooks not to leave town without letting the court know.
Brooks won the Oscar for Best Original Song for the 1977 ballad "You Light Up My Life." He also wrote and directed the "You Light Up My Life" movie, about a comedian who has a one-night stand with a director.
District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said Brooks used his Hollywood credentials on the Craigslist classified ads Web site to attract the victims, aged 18 to 30. He said Brooks' ad specified attractive young women for a starring role in a movie.
Morgenthau said nine of the 11 women were from the Portland, Oregon, and Seattle areas and the others were from California and Florida. He said Brooks paid to fly 10 of the women, who did not know each other, to New York.
He said Brooks' scheme, which ran from at least 2005 to 2008, was enabled by his personal assistant, Shawni Lucier, who helped pick the victims, interviewed them, arranged their travel and made them feel comfortable.
He said that when the women's mothers called, Lucier, of Federal Way, Washington state, would assure them their daughters were fine. When Brooks was ready to strike, he said, Lucier would leave the apartment "knowing what the end result would be."
Brooks became a suspect after one woman went to a hospital and reported what had happened and another complained to authorities in February and March 2008, prosecutors said.
Assistant District Attorney Maxine Rosenthal, the lead prosecutor, said she found other victims by searching Brooks' and Lucier's computers and cold-calling women whose names she saw.
"We have records from his and his assistant's computers that connect him to these women," she said.
There might be another seven or eight victims, she said.
Brooks' lawyer, Jeff Hoffman, said his client "told me he didn't do any of these things." He said Brooks, who suffered a stroke in 2008, "will have faith in the justice system."
Lucier, 42, was indicted on nine counts of criminal facilitation and is expected to return from Washington state and surrender to authorities in New York City next week, Morgenthau said. She has no attorney in New York and didn't immediately return a telephone message seeking comment Tuesday.
Jobs Has 'Excellent Prognosis' After Transplant
Source
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs has an "excellent prognosis" after receiving a liver transplant at a Tennessee hospital, a doctor confirmed Tuesday.
"He received a liver transplant because he was ... the sickest patient on the waiting list at the time a donor organ became available," said Dr. James D. Eason, chief of transplantation at Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute in Memphis. "Mr. Jobs is now recovering well and has an excellent prognosis."
Eason said in a news release posted on the hospital's Web site that when Jobs received the transplant, he was in end-stage liver disease.
Eason did not reveal when the operation took place, citing patient privacy. However, The Wall Street Journal reported it was two months ago.
Apple did not confirm the WSJ report, and has said only that Jobs is looking forward to returning to Apple — which he started in 1976 — at the end of June.
Eason said the hospital could not reveal further information on the specifics of the transplant.
"That's all that we are giving out at this time," hospital spokeswoman Ruth Ann Hale told The Associated Press.
Wall Street has grappled with the implications of Jobs' illness since August 2004, when investors learned the CEO had kept a cancer diagnosis secret until after he underwent surgery. The company's past silence on matters of Jobs' health made shareholders jittery when he appeared increasingly, even alarmingly, thin last year.
Investors sent the stock tumbling 5 percent to its lowest point in a year on a rumor last October that Jobs had suffered a heart attack.
Then shares slipped 2 percent in December when Apple said that Jobs would not speak as usual the next month at the annual Macworld conference, then bounced up 4 percent on Jan. 5 when Jobs explained his weight loss as a treatable hormone imbalance. They sank 7 percent a week later after Apple said he would be taking six months off because his medical problems were more complex than he initially thought.
Since then, Wall Street's whiplash has had time to heal, especially because Apple's stock has weathered the recession better than those of most of its competitors.
Cupertino, California-based Apple put Tim Cook, its chief operating officer, at the helm during Jobs' absence.
Steve Jobs recovering after liver transplant
Source
(CNN) -- Apple CEO Steve Jobs is recovering after undergoing a liver transplant at Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, the institute's program director said Tuesday.
Steve Jobs looks gaunt at an event in October. He began a leave of absence three months later.
"Mr. Jobs is now recovering well and has an excellent prognosis," said Dr. James D. Eason of Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. He added that Jobs had given his permission for the information to be released. Eason did not say when the operation took place.
The announcement came three days after The Wall Street Journal reported that Jobs underwent the transplant two months ago in Tennessee, though it did not identify the source of its information nor did it identify the hospital.
Before Tuesday's announcement by the hospital, a spokesman for the company would not confirm the newspaper report.
"Steve continues to look forward to returning to Apple at the end of June, and there is nothing further to say," spokesman Steve Dowling said earlier Tuesday in an e-mail to CNN.
Tuesday's announcement came the same day that a story published by The New York Times said the reports of Jobs' transplant "raise many questions -- not just about his prognosis, but also about the system for allocating scarce organs to the many people who need them."
Methodist's Eason did address the implication that the multimillionaire may have gotten special treatment, saying the 54-year-old computer visionary received a transplant because he was "the sickest patient on the waiting list at the time a donor organ became available."
He added the transplant was performed "for an approved indication in accordance with the Transplant Institute policies and United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) policies."
"We respect and protect every patient's private health information and cannot reveal any further information on the specifics of Mr. Jobs' case," Eason added.
It's been almost six months since Jobs, who co-founded Apple and has thrilled the public by launching consumer-tech favorites such as the iPhone and the iPod, announced he was taking a medical leave of absence until the end of June.
Jobs, a pancreatic cancer survivor, said early this year that a hormone imbalance caused the considerable weight loss that had some speculating whether his cancer had returned.
"The remedy for this nutritional problem is relatively simple and straightforward, and I've already begun treatment," Jobs wrote in a letter addressed to the "Apple community" on January 5.
"But, just like I didn't lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this spring to regain it."
Investors have been painfully aware of how any development regarding Jobs' health -- real or rumor -- can affect Apple's stock price. But experts say Apple has been taking steps to ensure that its fortunes are not linked with Jobs taking an active role in the company.

Chris Brown pleads guilty to assault
Source
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A plea deal has been reached in the assault case against singer Chris Brown, defense attorney Mark Geragos said in a hearing Monday.
Chris Brown, at court Monday, will serve five years probation and must do jail time or community service.
Under terms of the agreement, Brown will serve five years of probation and must serve 180 days in jail or the equivalent -- about 1,400 hours -- in "labor-oriented service," said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. He must also undergo a year-long domestic-violence counseling class, she said.
Brown's sentence is comparable to other felony sentences when the defendant has no previous record, she said.
"This is not an easy sentence," Gibbons said. He must check in with a probation officer every three months.
Brown, 20, had previously pleaded not guilty to felony counts of assault and making criminal threats in connection with an attack on his girlfriend, Rihanna, also a singer.
But under the plea deal, he pleaded guilty to one count of assault with the intent of doing great bodily injury in connection with the argument inside a rented Lamborghini on a Hollywood street in February. See a timeline of events in this case »
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, made a brief appearance at the hearing -- after Brown had left the courtroom -- to hear Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg discuss the issuance of a "stay away" order requiring him to stay 100 yards from her. Through her attorney, Rihanna had requested that such an order not be issued.
But Schnegg refused that request, saying she would issue such an order but would revise it to 50 yards -- 10 yards if the two are at the same "industry event" together.
Schnegg told Rihanna, who was wearing a black dress with white pearls around her neck, that she would consider lifting the order after Brown completes his domestic violence counseling but advised Rihanna not to contact Brown. Asked whether she understood, Rihanna said she did before leaving the courtroom via a back door.
Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra, said Rihanna made the request because she felt that a protective order in place, requiring that Brown not annoy or harass her, was sufficient.
Schnegg said Brown could apply to have his supervised probation transferred to Virginia, where he maintains his legal residence. He also can complete his community service there, she said, but it would have to meet the court's standards.
"I want Mr. Brown treated as any other defendant who comes to this court," Schnegg said. She noted, however, that he has no prior criminal record.
Gibbons, of the district attorney's office, explained that the judge wants Brown to work -- remove graffiti, for instance -- as part of his service.
"His sentence is not based on what he's available to do," Gibbons said. "His sentence is what he's going to do, or he's going to go to state prison for four years."
Dressed in a light plaid suit, Brown answered "guilty" when asked his plea by Assistant District Attorney Mary Murphy.
Formal sentencing was set for August 5.
After the hearing, Geragos said of Brown, "as long as I've known him in connection with this case, he's wanted to take responsibility."
He said Brown is thankful to those who offered him support and noted that he is "a kid who's never been in trouble before" who wants to "move past this" and get out the message that domestic violence is not acceptable.
Brown "embraces this as an opportunity to get his life back on track and get his career back on track," Geragos said, adding that Brown will speak further after his sentencing.
Etra said after the hearing that Rihanna "was fully prepared to testify and she would have told the truth about what happened that evening." He said she did not object to the plea agreement.
Rihanna had not attended any of the hearings in the case but had been following the case closely, Etra said earlier.
She did not file a complaint against Brown, but the prosecution's case was built on what she told detectives and on physical evidence collected from her, including photographs of her bruised and battered face.
It was not Rihanna who called police but someone who heard her screams for help, according to a sworn statement by Los Angeles Police Detective DeShon Andrews.
The statement, filed with the court to support a search warrant for cell phone records, described a brutal attack against Rihanna, allegedly by Brown.
Andrews said the incident began when Rihanna, who was riding in the sports car driven by Brown, found a text message on his cell phone from "a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with."
"A verbal argument ensued," followed by the physical attack, the statement said. It went on to describe the assault in great detail, saying Brown punched her numerous times and put her in a head lock, restricting her breathing and causing her to start to lose consciousness. He threatened to "beat the s--t out of you" and kill her, according to the statement, and also bit her ear and her fingers.
Eventually, "Robyn F. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.'s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a Domestic Violence Emergency Protective Order."
At the end of his statement, the detective said Brown sent a text message nine days later, apologizing.
Brown also issued a public apology for the incident just days after his arrest.
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," he said in a statement released by his spokesman. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person."

SERDANG: The three men suspected of robbing six business outlets in Puchong in an hour-long robbery spree on June 16 admitted to getting the idea from watching Tamil movies.
They also admitted to being involved in at least 20 cases of robbery.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said following their arrest on Friday, two admitted to committing recent robberies in Klang, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya and Puchong.
“These youths in their early 20s are school dropouts and turned to a life of crime after getting the idea from watching Tamil movies,” he said, adding that police have identified the remaining three suspects and urged them to surrender.
Khalid, however, expressed dismay at the perception that police were solely to blame for the increase in crimes committed in Puchong.
“One of the reasons the number of crimes being reported in Puchong is on the rise is because there is someone there who always defends suspects or criminals arrested by the police, thus hampering police investigations. More often than not, the case is blown out of proportion and highlighted in the media before the police can complete their investigations.”
Without revealing the person’s identity, Khalid questioned what the person had done to prevent youngsters from committing crimes.
“The police can’t do everything. We need the help of elected representatives and NGOs to help identify school dropouts and juvenile delinquents in their area and organise activities or dialogues with them.
“Steps like this can go a long way in preventing youths from turning to a life of crime,” he said.
Khalid added that the police were still looking at the CCTV recordings at a petrol station in Serdang Jaya where a bid to cart away an ATM on Saturday was foiled.

Chung was at KLIA at 7.30am last Saturday and was sent off by several fans who gave her presents, according to the sina.com.cn Internet portal.

On her work in Malaysia, Chung said the trip was not too demanding.
Chung had arrived in Kuala Lumpur on June 18 for the shoot with two assistants.

Hong Kong actor Edison Chen arriving to a rapturous welcome from fans at the Juice Store in Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial Hong Kong superstar Edison Chen Koon Hei made a special appearance in Bangsar Baru here to launch the first Malaysian outlet of his boutique yesterday.
His arrival at the Juice Store at 2pm caused fans to crowd around the junction of Jalan Maarof and Jalan Telawi 5 where the boutique is located.
Chen, 28, who was accompanied by fellow Hong Kong actor Sam Lee and the boutique's Malaysian business partner, Edwin Choong, said he chose to set up the outlet in Kuala Lumpur as Malaysians were interested in the latest fashion trends and loved Hong Kong entertainment.
"I'm happy to have in Edwin a collaborator who is full of ideas. This is our first store outside Hong Kong and we'll be coming up with specially-designed products for Malay-sians," he said.
Chen is the store's creative director.
The Canadian-born jack-of-all-trades is an actor, singer and producer. His best known films include the Infernal Affairs trilogy and The Dark Knight.
Embroiled in a sex photo scandal last year, after which he expressed remorse and announced his indefinite departure from entertainment, Chen is now focusing on his business.
He co-owns Clot, an urban lifestyle and fashion business, which he co-founded with Kevin Poon in 2003. The Juice Stores are part of the business and sell branded apparel from Adidas, Nike and Clot itself.

A teenage girl survived a terrifying lightning strike after she was saved by the wire of her iPod.
Schoolgirl Sophie Frost and her boyfriend Mason Billington, both 14, stopped to shelter under a tree when a storm struck as they were walking near their homes.
Doctors believe Sophie survived the 300,000-volt surge only because it travelled through the gadget’s wire, diverting it away from her vital organs.

Scorched: Sophie Frost, 14, shows what happened to her clothes when she and her boyfriend Mason Billington were struck by lightning
The teenager was taken to hospital and is recovering from burns to her chest and legs while Mason suffered damage to his eyes.
Both are expected to make a full recovery and Sophie may not even have a permanent scar.
Sophie, on her hospital bed, said she was saved by headphone wires diverting the bolt away from her body
She will be thankful she was wearing her iPod, which she had been given four days earlier as a gift from her grandmother.
Returning from hospital yesterday after three days of treatment, she said: ‘I’m just glad to be alive. I don’t remember a thing about what happened, but from what everyone tells me it’s a miracle I’m still here.
‘Everybody’s said the iPod must have diverted the lightning away from my body, which probably saved my life. I’ve got a few burns, but it’s all healing OK.’
Sophie and Mason were knocked unconscious by the lightning bolt while holding hands and taking shelter in a field on Monday night.
Mason came round and carried Sophie, who was scorched and unconscious, to a nearby road where he flagged down a female motorist who took the couple to Southend hospital.
The iPod had been bought by Sophie's grandmother only a few days before the lightning strike
Sophie suffered burns to her body and legs, some temporary damage to her eyes and a perforated eardrum.
Dr Ian Cotton, a reader in electrical engineering at Manchester University, said Sophie could have been saved by her iPod.
‘If lightning hits a person it can do one of two things. It can go down the outside of the skin, which is more likely if someone is caught in a storm and their body is wet.
‘Or it can puncture the skin and go into the body. Potentially a metal wire, which is highly conductive could divert the electricity away from the heart and save someone’s life.’
Sophie was reunited with her boyfriend and family in Rayleigh, Essex, yesterday after being transferred to the Broomfield Hospital for burns treatment.
She said Mason, whose eyesight is now back to normal, was a hero. ‘My mum thinks he’s wonderful,’ she added.

Thirty firefighters rushed to the luxury townhouse,in Bowdon, Altrincham, at 10pm on Thursday night, and battled for hours to contain the blaze. Eleven nearby homes had to be evacuated.
Fire chief Nigel Perkins said it was the first time in 23 years he'd seen a house struck by lightning.
Mrs Coppola, 62, a mother-of-three, was alone in the house at the time.
She said: 'There was a very loud bang, the lights went out and I thought there'd been a power cut. I thought lightning must have hit somewhere.
'I went to check with my neighbour John and then from around the back I could see smoke coming from the back bedroom.'

Police say a Metromover car rolled over and killed a station supervisor as he inspected the tracks.
The accident happened Saturday. The computerized vehicle, which is not driven by a conductor, was stopped, but moved forward for an unknown reason.
Police found the body about 100 feet from the platform; the identity of the supervisor wasn't released.
This is the second public transit worker death in the last week. On Sunday night, a 60-year-old Metrorail security officer was shot and killed by two men in a station garage.

Report: Steve Jobs Had Liver Transplant
He'll be back!

Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave from Apple Inc. since January to treat an undisclosed medical condition, received a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago.
Oct. 14: Tim Cook, Steve Jobs and Apple vice president Phil Schiller take questions during a meeting at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.
The chief executive has been recovering well and is expected to return to work on schedule later this month, though he may work part-time initially.
Jobs didn't respond to an e-mail requesting comment.
"Steve continues to look forward to returning at the end of June, and there's nothing further to say," said Apple spokeswoman Katie Cotton.
When he does return, Jobs may be encouraged by his physicians to initially "work part-time for a month or two," a person familiar with the thinking at Apple said. That may lead Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer, to take "a more encompassing role," this person said. The person added that Cook may be appointed to Apple's board in the not-too-distant future.
Apple has previously drawn criticism from some shareholders over what they have called limited disclosure of Jobs's health problems, which began in 2004. In this case, it is unclear whether the surgery is material because Jobs was already on leave. Material information like that must be disclosed only "if you are asking shareholders to make a decision based on [that] information," said John Olson, a senior partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Washington. "You can't expect the company to give a blow-by-blow account of Steve Jobs's health."
But once Jobs resumes work, the company will have to be "very careful" about what it says "about his health and his prognosis," Olson said. The attorney, who counsels corporate boards on governance issues, has never advised Apple's board.
At least some Apple directors were aware of the CEO's surgery. As part of an agreement with Jobs in place before he went on leave, some board members have been briefed weekly on the CEO's condition by his physician.
Air France pays $24,500 to crash victims' families

PARIS, France (CNN) -- Air France will pay families about €17,500 ($24,500) in initial compensation for each victim of the crash of Flight 447 this month, the company's chief executive says.

So far, Air France has been in touch with about 1,800 relatives of the people who died when the Airbus A330 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, chief executive Paul-Henri Gourgeon told France's RTL radio Friday.
The company is also providing families with counseling, he said.
"Of course, this is not always easy, (but) we make up for it," he said. "We have psychologists in each country, in each stop. You know that the passengers were of 32 different nationalities, so all that is of great complexity, but we have the ability to manage this complexity. It's just a question of means and no limits on the means that we put in place."
Gourgeon said it has been difficult tracing the relatives of all 228 victims.
"The modern world is different and we often have only a cell phone, and as you can imagine, this cell phone is unfortunately in the aircraft," he said. "So we probably put more hours to access all the relatives."
The aircraft has not been found, though search teams have found dozens of pieces of debris in the water and think they know the general location of the wreck. The head of the French accident investigation board, Paul-Louis Arslanian, said this week that there is a chance the entire aircraft may never be found. With no wreckage and few clues about what caused the plane to go down, searchers are focused on finding the plane's data recorders, the so-called black boxes. Data from the recorders may be crucial in pinning down a cause.
Autopsies conducted on some of the 50 bodies found so far show they suffered broken bones, including arms, legs and hips, Brazilian authorities have told French investigators, Arslanian said.
Experts have said such injuries indicate the flight broke apart before hitting the ocean.
Asked about that theory, Gourgeon said he would not go that far.
"What I know is that the investigators would like to know the causes of death," Gourgeon said. "That knowledge of causes of death will better clarify what exactly happened. Were the victims killed before the impact, or during impact?"
There has been difficulty in exchanging information between French investigators and Brazilian coroners, but that is being resolved, he said.

Investigators are looking at the possible role of airspeed sensors known as Pitot tubes, among other factors, as a possible cause of the crash.
The plane sent 24 automated error messages in the four minutes before it crashed, Arslanian said Wednesday. The error messages all indicate there were problems with on-board information about the plane's speed, which can cause some of the plane's instruments to stop functioning, Arslanian said.
Air France bodies had broken bones, official says

PARIS, France (CNN) -- At least some of the bodies recovered from the Air France crash this month had broken bones, Brazilian authorities have told French investigators, evidence that suggests the flight broke apart before hitting the ocean.

Paul-Louis Arslanian, director of the Bureau d'Enquetes et d'Analyses, the French accident investigation board, said Thursday that Brazilian medical examiners had given that information to his agency.
Asked whether the information included reports that the recovered bodies from Flight 447 had fractures to arms, legs and hips, and few had any clothing, Arslanian said yes.
All of that, aviation experts have said, points to a mid-air rupture of the plane at about 35,000 feet.
There is still no explanation of what brought down the Airbus A330, which was en route from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Paris, France when it crashed in the Atlantic on June 1. Video Watch more wreckage recovered from crash »
Arslanian pleaded Thursday for the media and the public to stop speculation about the cause of the Air France crash.
A major Brazilian newspaper reported this week that 95 percent of the bodies so far had shown fractures in the legs, arms and hips similar to injuries found in people who fall from great heights. The newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo cited unnamed officials who are part of the investigation.
Another clue is the low incidence of cranial trauma, the newspaper reported. If the aircraft had nose-dived into the ocean, victims would have more head injuries, the paper said.

A large number of bodies also had red lesions in their mucous membranes, which the paper said is usually associated with asphyxia, or lack of oxygen.
Another major Brazilian newspaper, the Jornal do Brasil, cited information from an unnamed person from the Brazilian military who has access to the teams working in the recovery of the plane. This person told the paper that bodies were found "mutilated" with no clothing, a strong indication of violent depressurization caused by a structural rupture.

FBI: Test Confirms Michigan Man Not Long-Missing New York Boy
DETROIT — DNA testing disproved a Michigan man's suspicions that he was a toddler kidnapped on New York's Long Island in 1955, the FBI said Thursday, closing a chapter in a bizarre mystery that started after he began researching his roots on the Internet.
The FBI said in a statement that a test showed John Barnes, an unemployed man in his 50s who lives in a trailer in northwest Michigan, is not Stephen Damman, who disappeared at age 2 from outside an East Meadow market while his mother shopped.

The sample showed Barnes could not have the same mother as Pamela Damman Horne, the sister of the toddler who was with him when he disappeared, the FBI said. She was found in her stroller, unharmed, around the corner from the market.
The case had raised the hopes of the toddler's father, Jerry Damman, who runs a 440-acre farm in Iowa, and stunned the community where the Halloween kidnapping occurred. Damman, now 78, had said he hoped for a resolution after five decades of silence.
"It's too bad we had to go through all of this for actually nothing in the end," he told The Associated Press.
Barnes has said he has long suspected the couple who raised him are not his biological parents, and the FBI took his DNA sample after he connected with Horne and took a trip to Iowa to try and catch a glimpse of the man he believed to be his father. He said he began investigating his origins years ago because he believed he never fit in.
Photos of the missing toddler's mother on the Internet led him to believe he could be Stephen. Barnes said pictures of the missing boy's mother when she was a young adult resembled what he looked like at the same age, so he started looking into the case.
Barnes did bear a striking resemblance to a photo of the missing toddler: He had the same chubby cheeks, the same round face and bright, blue eyes. And there was a faint line on his chin, close to the scar the missing toddler was said to have. But his father, Richard Barnes, immediately dismissed the speculation as "a bunch of foolishness," and said John Barnes was born in a Navy hospital in Pensacola, Fla., on Aug. 18, 1955.
Cheryl Barnes, John Barnes' sister, said she was not surprised by the test results. Mending fences, she said, won't be easy. "He pretty much lost two families today," she said.
"We knew that was going to be the outcome. ... My dad feels the same way. Neither of us had a doubt. My dad knows who his son is. I'm angry at my brother for putting everyone through this, turning everybody's lives upside down."
No one answered the door at John Barnes' home. A message seeking comment was also left for an attorney representing the toddler's sister in Lee's Summit, Mo.
Dwight Damman, a son from Jerry Damman's second marriage who would be the missing toddler's half brother, said he always had been skeptical of Barnes' story.
"We didn't hold out a lot of hope that it was true," Dwight Damman said. "After the pictures came out it kinda made you think, but with DNA you have to wait for the results."
Haze worsens in Penang
Source
GEORGE TOWN: Penangites will have to brace themselves for thicker haze as there will be no rain for the next three days, according to the meteorological department.
The haze which is enveloping the state has worsened over the last couple of days with visibility dropping to 4km.
Visibility in Bayan Lepas was 4km at 10am while in Prai and Butterworth, it was 5km.
It remained the same at 1pm except for Butterworth where it improved to 6km.
Visibility on Wednesday was better at 7km in Butterworth, 6km in Bayan Lepas and 8km in Prai and on Tuesday, visibility was more than 10km.
The air pollutant index (API) at all three places was moderate at 71 for Seberang Jaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia (53) and Prai (59) at 5pm.
A total of 23 areas nationwide recorded good API between 0-50 while 27 areas had moderate API between 51 and 100. The unhealthy API is between 101-200.
A spokesperson of the Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd said traffic on the bridge was not affected although it was slow moving.
Penang International Airport airport manager Abdul Wahab Mohd Yusof also said that the haze condition had not affected airport operations.
