PETALING JAYA: More schools have been affected by the spread of the influenza A (H1N1) virus.

SRK Assunta 2 was closed for a week beginning yesterday, after a locally-transmitted case was detected. It is the second school closure in the country due to the disease.

Four other schools — Seri Cempaka International School in Batu 9 Cheras, SMK Seksyen 9 Shah Alam, SMK Damansara Utama in Petaling Jaya and SM Wangsa Maju — have each had one class stopped.

● Three new locally-transmitted cases were detected yesterday, bringing the number of such cases to seven.

● A total of 58 cases have been recorded in the country so far, with eight new cases yesterday.

● Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has asked the public to adhere to measures instituted by health authorities to curb the spread of the disease.

● Schoolchildren returning from the United States, Australia and the Philippines have been urged to stay away from school for a week, from the day they arrive home.
